THE CHARLSON TRIO
“New York good” acoustic bassist Steve Charlson, pianist Nick Rieser, and saxophonist Julius Brooks. The Charlson Trio can be seen regularly on Friday nights at Chuck’s Italian-American Restaurant in Des Moines.
PRIVATE VOICE INSTRUCTION
I am currently offering private voice lessons at the Fine Arts Center at Drake University. I am a professionally performing musician with a degree in jazz studies from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. My areas of specialty are vocal technique and jazz improvisation. As a former student at Valley High School I am very familiar with the Iowa musical programs, ensembles and competitions. I have been a member of the Vocalese jazz ensemble, Valley Singers, A Cappella Choir, the Iowa All-State Choir, All-State Jazz Choir and Iowa Ambassadors of Music. I studied classical voice at Drake University and performed regularly in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competitions. Let me help your student with their vocal technique, ensemble and audition pieces. Lessons are $25 for 30 minutes and $45 for 60 minutes. Please contact me for more information.

THE HANNAH BRETZ TRIO
The Hannah Bretz Trio performs a cool mix of traditional Latin Jazz with a modern twist.
One Nite Stand has been called one of the best Smooth Jazz/R&B groups in the Des Moines area. The band’s current line-up includes:
Pulling from a wide repertoire of music including Happy People by Kenny Garrett, Ladies Night by Kool and the Gang, Mustang Sally by Wilson Pickett, I Feel Good by James Brown, Brick House by The Commodores, Supersition by Stevie Wonder and Billie Jean by Michael Jackson to mention a few, One Nite Stand has been called smooth, hip and funky. They are on a mission to prove that their smooth style and infectious grooves will make them the talk of the greater Des Moines music scene and beyond.
THE NEW DEAL
The New Deal is a two-time Downbeat Magazine award winning vocal jazz ensemble in Chicago. The New Deal has performed with Darmon Meader of the accplaimed New York Voices and participated regularly at the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival.
